ELLALUNA AMERICAN SCHOOL

Methodology

WATCH VIDEO

Our methodology is based on three fundamental pillars for the integral development of the children and their coexistence: innovation, respect and learning.

Our methodology is observing every child individually. Listening and observing their feelings. Observation is key to knowing each child´s stage of development and what their needs are.

Learning is not incompatible with respecting time and interests, quite the contrary. When a person, in our case children, feels listened to and sees that their interests and needs are satisfied, effort and performance soar.

We draw on the Reggio Emilia philosophy by adapting it to our school and the needs of the children. Having this philosophy allows us to create, imagine and gather research for both children and adults. This well understood freedom makes the school day enjoyable for everyone.

Ellaluna American School´s philosophy

We educated people from an ethical reference standpoint, bearing in mind the dignity of every person regardless of their beliefs and way of living. We encourage them to feel free and to grow from respect and responsibility. We encourage them to become critical and responsible from their childhood within their possibilities and maturity.

Our main aim is for them to experience a deep interest in knowledge and enjoy learning. We are an innovative school with a truly individualised and standardised methodology, offering appropriate knowledge and adequate spaces for the personal and community growth.

One of our main objectives is to transmit the learning of English while respecting the development of children with the aim of achieving effective communication. In a pluralistic society in which communication is one of the main ways to get to know the world, we have the obligation to provide our students with the appropriate tools and context to achieve fluent communication in English.

Ellaluna American School´s children are researches, curious, responsible and respectful. Their relationships are healthy and balanced and are based on respect for themselves and for others.

Above all, we expect them to face life, problems, relationships and knowledge always aspiring to be better with humility and responsibility.

Adaptation period

“In order to trust, you have to get to know us“

The adaptation period is very intense and very exciting at the same time. It is carried out with the families in the room regardless of the educational stage. Each child is accompanied by a reference figure who will be present in the room and at school for as long as necessary, and when we say necessary, we are talking about the child´s needs not the adult´s needs. There are children who need a few days, a week or a month. The adult accompanying the child will be absent from the room for short periods of time. The first absences will take place inside the school. During this time there are families and grandparents all over the school. Some of them take the opportunity to talk and get to know each other, others need to work or prefer to read… Once the children are able to be without their reference adult they can stay for lunch or naptime (if necessary)
